October’s Twelve Baskets Project Outreach Activity

Halloween Carnival

The service opportunity is the annual Halloween Carnival at St. Paul’s on Thursday October 25 for the children at Safe Haven and also the Mind 2 Mind kids.

Safe Haven Shelter provides safety, advocacy, and a space to heal battered women and their children.  The Mind 2 Mind children gather at St. Paul’s to receive homework help and socialize.

These are youth of the neighborhood.  Lets help them have fun.  Sign up sheet on board by the office.
Contact Nelson Thomas 525-5785.

STUFFED ANIMALS NEEDED: We are looking for gently loved, clean stuffed animals to use as prizes for our cakewalk at the Halloween Carnival.  Please bring them to church by October 21 and place in the box outside the parish office. Thanks!

Little Treasures Center

Little Treasures Center is a day care and preschool located on East 1st street just a few blocks from St. Paul’s.  It was begun as a part of the Neighborhood Partnership after a need was identified in the Endion Neighborhood for child care for families in stress due to various reasons related mainly to poverty and parents working hard to become self sufficient.  St Paul’s had a large part in LTC’s formation with Social Ministry grants from St. Paul’s and an Episcopal Sheltering Arms grant.

Now those early money sources, and many other grants directly related to children's’ development are no longer available.  Little Treasures Center is struggling to continue to meet the needs.  A new fund raising board is presenting a creative event

THE BOO HOO BALL
October 20, 200 - Saturday
7:00 PM to Midnight
Costume party with music by Jamie Ness and the band “Taconite”
Food    Spirits  Peddled Wares

St. Paul’s name is on the list of Sponsor’s thanks to donations from recent weddings to board member, The Rev Margaret Thomas’ discretionary fund.  Some of you know how she likes children and likes Halloween costume parties. She has tickets which are $65. The Ball occurs at 2229 West Second Street in the Duluth Art Institute building. She is also accepting donations to the fund and to the silent auction.
