Lay Ministry Schedule / Altar Guild / This Week At St. Paul's / Suggested Readings

We have lots of great new books in the library and I will highlight a few of them each month. This time, I would like to call your attention to two books which are appropriate compliments to the Buddhist Meditation for Christians classes in which some of you are participating.

In Living Buddha, Living Christ, Thich Nhat Hanh tells us how to use Buddhist meditation to rediscover the values in our own tradition. About the author, Martin Luther King, Jr. says, “Thich Nhat Hanh is a holy man, for he is humble and devout. He is a scholar of immense intellectual capacity. His ideas for peace, if applied, would build a monument to ecumenism, to world brotherhood, to humanity.”

Wherever You Go, There You Are by Jon Kabat-Zinn was my own introduction to mindfulness meditation. I read it years ago and I’ve been reading it ever since. Written in short chapters with accessible language, it’s great for beginners or for those who want to deepen their meditation practice.
